Publication and Sales Policy

Marché Numérique du Burundi (MANU) - manu.bi

This policy governs the rules for product listing and sales within the Marché Numérique du Burundi (MANU) B2C marketplace ecosystem. It outlines the conditions applicable to sellers and buyers to ensure a reliable, transparent, and secure experience.

By accessing or using the MANU platform, users acknowledge having read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these terms.

1. Objective and Scope

MANU, accessible via manu.bi, is a B2C retail platform designed to facilitate connections between sellers and buyers. This policy applies to every product listing, sales offer, and transaction carried out within the MANU digital marketplace environment. It aims to ensure a framework that is clear, consistent, and compliant with the platform’s quality standards.

2. Account Creation and Registration

The rules for creating an account on MANU are strict, designed to enhance operational security and ensure smooth transactions. Registration is reserved for sellers wishing to list and manage their products on the platform. Each application undergoes rigorous verification to maintain trust and the quality of the ecosystem.
Exclusive to sellers Account creation strictly reserved for sellers.
Registration fee 200,000 FBU required for account validation
Verification Rigorous verification process to ensure trust and quality

3. Sellers' Obligations

To maintain market quality and the reliability of offers, each seller must comply with the following obligations:

  • Inventory management: Maintain an up-to-date inventory via the dashboard.
  • Accuracy of information: Provide accurate information and fulfill all confirmed orders.
  • Currency: Display all prices in Burundian Francs (BIF).
  • Taxes and discounts: Include applicable taxes in the prices, unless otherwise indicated.

4. Transactions, Payments, and Logistics

MANU acts as a platform connecting sellers and buyers, without intervening as a contracting party in the payment process. Buyers and sellers communicate directly to agree on the most suitable payment method—such as mobile money services like Lumicash or Ecocash, cash, or bank card payments. This arrangement fosters flexibility in transactions while allowing the parties to choose the solution best suited to their specific deal.

MANU also partners with local delivery fleets to transport orders from the seller’s warehouse to the buyer’s address in Bujumbura and the provinces served. Delivery fees apply based on the buyer’s location and associated transport conditions. Delivery times and costs are calculated at the time of order confirmation to provide clear and predictable information.

5. Prohibited Content and Practices

It is strictly forbidden to:

  • Selling or promoting illegal, counterfeit, or dangerous items.
  • Providing false information during verification or ordering.
  • Attempting to bypass manu.bi’s security systems.
  • Reproducing the content of MANU (logos, texts, graphics, French/Kirundi bilingual interfaces) without authorization.

6. Assistance and Dispute Resolution

24/7 Support Online support via chat and email for technical issues, order-related questions, or disputes.
Dispute Resolution Seeking an amicable resolution through customer service. Failing that, the matter shall be referred to the competent courts in Bujumbura in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Burundi.
